The SturNet team presented the project’s digital platform for environmental monitoring, sturgeon conservation, mobile reporting, and spatial interpretation in the Danube–Black Sea region.
The poster introduced how the SturNet digital platform connects environmental data, biological observations, monitoring information, and stakeholder reporting to support conservation communication.
SturNet research was presented at the 46th IAD Conference, held in Baja, Hungary, on 10–13 August 2026. The conference theme focused on the socio-ecological future of the Danube and the integration of riverine and terrestrial systems for a sustainable Danube.
The poster presented the SturNet website, Digital Mapping Tool, and mobile application as connected outputs of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin project. Together, these tools support project communication, public visibility, partner information, access to outputs, structured reporting, and interactive visualization of monitoring and biological information.
The Digital Mapping Tool was presented as a web-based interactive interface for visualizing environmental, biological, and geographical information relevant to sturgeon conservation. It combines maps showing habitat areas, monitoring and sampling locations, environmental parameters, bathymetry, and other map layers.

Digital mapping, mobile reporting, environmental monitoring and sturgeon conservation
The presentation highlighted the digital platform as an integrated workflow for collecting, organizing, visualizing, interpreting, and communicating conservation information.
The website, mapping tool, and mobile application were presented as connected components supporting project visibility, reporting, and information sharing.
The mapping tool visualizes environmental and habitat information including surface temperature, salinity, current velocity, bathymetry, buoys, monitoring points, and sampling locations.
The mobile application enables structured field reporting of accidental sturgeon bycatch and sightings, including optional GPS coordinates and multimedia documentation.
The poster described an integrated workflow that connects field observations, mobile reporting, environmental datasets, eDNA indicators, map-based interpretation, and communication through the SturNet website and reports dashboard.
By bringing together environmental monitoring, habitat information, biological observations, and stakeholder reporting, the SturNet platform strengthens project communication and supports evidence-based conservation of sturgeon populations in the Danube–Black Sea region.
